WANNA MAKE SOME NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS?

When you’re perfect, it’s hard to think up ways that you could improve yourself. So here is a little helpful guide to things you might not have thought of (involving Pacific Tower, of course).

BALCONY:

I resolve to make sure there are plastic saucers under all my plants (so that the constant wetness doesn’t wreck the concrete).

I resolve to not put a rug on my balcony floor because it can hold wetness and hide wetness and cracks.

I also promise to notify Joseph Arellano, our Building Manager, about any cracks, bubbles or holes on my balcony or the ceiling of my balcony.

I resolve not to hang my wetsuit, towels, or laundry on my balcony.

I will keep my surfboard close to my unit, so it doesn’t fall in the street.

LAUNDRY ROOM:

I promise not to toss cardboard boxes in the laundry room without first flattening them.

I will empty my boxes of packing peanuts, paper filler, and pierce the air pockets (Fun!).

And have a Very Happy New Year!

HOA MEETINGS

Pacific Tower Homeowner’s Association has a monthly meeting, usually the third Tuesday of every month and if you’re an owner, you’re invited! Meet your Board members and neighbors. Find out where your $540 is going. We’d love to have you! If you get bored, you’re welcome to leave – no pressure.

Since the pandemic, we’ve held our meetings on Zoom instead of gathering in- person in the Rec Room and many owners have taken advantage of participating virtually from the comfort of their units. Pajamas are okay (if not too sexy).

At the beginning of each meeting, homeowners are invited to ask questions of the Board, raise issues or lodge complaints for five minutes per person.

If you have a computer and would like to get a Zoom invitation for the next meeting, please email Keisha@phoac.com. If you don’t have a computer, you can still join the meeting by phone. The meeting announcement posted in the Lobby four days before the meeting will include the Zoom Meeting phone number so you can join by phone.

     BOARD OFFICERS

President – Mark Cabaj, Vice President - Karyl Miller, Secretary – Julie Menas, Treasurer – Anthony Mariucci, Directors – Troy Krich, Robin Del Pape, and George Kyrala.

Covid Updates and Rules

As of this writing no one in the building has Covid that we know of. Yay! But Delta and Omicron are here in California. Yes, we have vaccines, but some people cannot take the vax for various reasons. Please be careful. It ain’t over till it’s over. Social distance is still a good thing and masks are highly recommended. At least have a mask at-the-ready and don’t be offended if your neighbor prefers to ride the elevator alone. None of the children in the building are vaccinated (yet). Thank you.

PACIFIC TOWER NEWSLETTER – OCTOBER 2021

I LEFT MY HEART WITH AMAZON

On-line shopping was once a once a year you-give-me Hickory Farms and I-giveyou Harry and David thing. Merry Christmas. But then they invented Black Friday, which was a virtual store chock full of irresistible stuff you don’t need but was a bargain that you couldn’t pass up. And then they closed Fry’s! Brick ‘n mortar Fry’s! Were techies freaking out? Were they steeped in guilt because they killed Brick ‘n mortar Fry’s? Nope, they got over it in a nanosecond. They were already on the WWW buying up every hard-drive and thumb drive directly from China.

Nevertheless, plenty of people still resisted buying stuff on the internet. They just didn’t trust it. And then came the Pandemic and the quarantine, which became just about the only way we could get toilet paper. So, the last holdouts stopped holding out and learned to shop till they dropped on the internet. Goodbye AOL, hello Amazon!

This was a long way of getting around to the subject at hand – cardboard. Cardboard, cardboard, cardboard! Our laundry rooms are drowning in cardboard!  It’s a problem, but you can help! After you empty your boxes, PLEASE flatten them before putting them in the laundry room. Cut them up with a box cutter if they’re too big. Once they’re flat, sandwich them between the two blue recycle boxes and you are a really NICE, NEAT NEIGHBOR!
